Art Adams Fantastic Four Cover by CeeCeeLuvins Art Adams Fantastic Four Cover by CeeCeeLuvins
Art: Art Adams
Colors: Me

So... this is something I did a few years ago, and I know what you're thinking, wtf, why wouldn't you post an ART ADAMS piece you colored?

I didn't even tell my friends I got to do this. Why? I totally hate it. And not because I think it's the worst thing I've ever colored, but because it didn't come out like I wanted it to. Looking at it now I hate it less, I just feel like I choked. Like I could've done way better.

I remembered this piece cause recently I choked harder than ever before on something partially due to calibration issues and then also because I was just stupid and took too big a risk on something not printing dark. I LOST. It sucked. I wanna bury my head in the sand.

So here's another one I hate owning up to. My editor liked it but I just... I dunno, it's not like it's terrible, I just feel like I didn't execute to the standard I should've/could've/whatever.

And hey, look, i didn't sign this either. I guess that bad habit started like, years ago. O_o

edit: No, wait, I did sign it... UNDER THE LINE ART WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

in an earlier post I mentioned that you are a master of the color "yellow" in all its iterations. Maybe here, the yellow is too pure?

You are beyond badass! But also, you're like super humble. I think that's what I like the most. Also, you're pretty good at colouring. Yeah, I like that too.

You're crazy, Christina. This is fantastic... no pun intended.

However, it doesn't really look or feel like one of your pieces. But it still looks great.

LOVE Arthur Adams' work!

I'm no color wiz, so I have no idea what you might be talking about. Far as I can see, the colors rock.

But since you don't like it, any chance you might take another stab at this, without the pressures of deadlines/editorial/whatever? I'm very curious to see what you'd do differently.

Come on, Christina, this piece is fabulous. I don't see ANYTHING wrong with it. And I'm not sucking up, I honestly think this coloring job is fantastic. Painting fire and the reflections is really hard, but you achieved the effect flawlessly.

Your being way too hard on yourself. I freakin' love this pic!

I work at a comic shop and we got a promo version of this, I totally took it then and there as I was unpacking the comics haha Its resided in my study ever since.

Pretty cool to know who colored it after all this time and that it is someone as inspirational as yourself. :]

Yeah it's darker than your normal stuff but as it was said, it still shows off some of your technical skill.

I understand your frustration, but like the editor, I'd like it if it was put on my desk.

Sorry you feel like you choked. We all have those works that we're less than proud of, but we do learn from them and move on.

Plus, it's really nowhere near as bad as you think it is. I promise. =)

Well actually I think it turned out great myself. True, you couldn't swear without examining the signature that it was colored by Christin@, it looks more like... i dunno, you know a Blond coloring or coloring from someone that uses more saturated colors and very contrasted lighting ambiances. But this scenery wants that too. ;)

I trully am of the opinion you rock as a colorist because of your choice of not to saturated tones when you can. Colors you put onto Nakayama or Silvestri lines counts among my favs from you !
But this is a pretty cool result anyway : I tremendously like your doing on the Thing (must have taken quite some time btw), and the Torch is quite interesting !

Very cool to see you post old things you did ! :dalove:
Don't hesitate and keep comin' !

Sometimes, strike that most times we are our own worst critic.

I am always pushing myself to do better and better with each thing that I do. I am always attempting to do that extra bit. I sometimes feel like something is never really done but at some point have to say it is enough.

Currently taking 3d Modeling (maya), Motion Graphics (After Effects) and Drawing & Anatomy. Drawing & anatomy is my Worst class but I will admit that I am getting better, and that is because I try to do some sketches each day to work on improving. I have never really done any type of figure drawing per say. I have done cartoon type drawings of imaginary people but never anything working from a live model and trying to get it to look real. The instructor says that I am doing very well, better than he did in his first life drawing class (he could just be being nice).

Well I ramble sorry.

I think the picture looks great, I will also say that of course you have done better but it still looks great.

Take care and keep you chin up.

Bill
